Boca Warriors: 2023 FLYRA States Roundup

It was only about 9 weeks ago that our 2023 Cross Country season started at Holloway Park, FL the last week of August, 2023.

This past weekend saw the culmination of all the hard work throughout the season at the FLYRA MS State Cross Country Championship 2023.

"It is important to say right away that whether one of our athletes won a medal or not, it's all about their individual process of developing a strong work ethic, setting goals and working hard at steady improvment. We saw incredible dedication and determination throughout the practices and season. Great job by all ! " - Coach Crate

Middle School

Middle School Girls:

The Girls' Middle School Team was led by Barbarita's 10th place overall finish. Barbarita was the 3rd fastest 7th grader and had a new 26 second PR at 11:33:50. Makaela Morilla placed 19th overall. Both girls earned hard-won spots on the podium as Top 20 medalists.

Layla shattered her time with a new PR of 15:36:80 (old 17:16:59). Layla just started running this fall & with her consistent practice, time dropped her time by a minute and 40 seconds in one month from the Spanish River race, to this much harder State course.

Middle School Boys:

Mason, our #1 Middle School boy all season, led the way with a Top 20 placement (19th) and earned a spot on the podium as a medalist. Mason also grabbed a new 3K PR in this race and ended up as the 3rd fastest 6th grader.

Jeremy (8th grade) ran an 11 second course PR at Holloway's challenging course. Erik Moss came and ran a strong race.

Two 8th grade boys joined recently and are just beginning runners, but despite the lack of experience did very well. Sebastian ran in just his 2nd race. Joshua 4th grade, joined this week, had just 2 practices showed up and ran his first XC race ever.
