Warriors' 2023 XC Season Opener

Congratulations to all the kids for the great effort & performances at the 15th Annual Jim Ryun FCA Invitational 2023.

This was the Warriors' cross country season-opener, and it was wonderful to see all the hard work rewarded on the course.

The Jim Ryun FCA Invitational is held every year at Holloway Park, Lakeland, FL. Jim Ryun (black shirt) was the first High School boy in the world to break the 4 minute mile barrier & the Silver Medalist in the 1968 Olympic games, Mexico City , 1500 meters. ESPN named Ryun the #1 high school athlete of all time, beating out the likes of Tiger Woods and LeBron James.

Jim always gives a powerful and very motivational speech before every division's race; taking the time to encourage all the runners to give their best effort and to grow and learn from that day's running experience.

The Middle School Boys finished 4th out of 16 scored teams.

Erik Moss, ran a solid time of 11:14.90 in the 3000m to pace the MS boys' squad and finished in the top 10.

The Middle School Girls also finished 4th out of 16 scored teams for the 3000m.

Barbarita Jedlicka led the way for the MS girls with a top 10 finish (7th), and with an impressive time - and new PR - of 12:20.20.

The Elementary Girls' team showed their strength in the 2K, by finishing 1st out of 6 scored teams.

The Girls had 6 top-ten finishers:

  • Arielle Gorlovetzky (8:28.6) -- 2nd

  • Ana Lucia Barba (8:34.5) -- 3rd

  • Hayden Frey (8:47.4) -- 4th

  • Faith Gladstone (9:23.1) -- 6th

  • Katerina Skutnik (9:38.6) -- 7th

  • Mila Valderrama (9:42.1) - 8th

Great job Warriors, ... now on to our next event on the 16th at the Holloway Park Jamboree 2023.
